Primary: 8:00 am to 3.15 pm

Secondary: 8:00 am to 4.00 or 5.00 pm (depending on their schedule)

Do you offer after school care?

Yes. After school care is available from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Is there a naptime?

In pre-school the children rest after lunch. All children lie down for 20 to 30 minutes to allow for quiet time. Children who do not fall asleep may play quiet games or activities.

How diverse is your school?

We are proud of our school’s cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic diversity. A diverse staff and student body is what makes our school unique, and serving a multicultural community is part of our school’s mission. Overall, our families represent 10 different nationalities.

What are the advantages of learning in two languages or more?

Studies recognise the many cognitive benefits of being bilingual. Researchers have shown that the bilingual brain can have better attention and task-switching capabilities than the monolingual brain.

The French School is a place where your child will not only receive the multilingualism that will develop the brain, but will also grow as a creative individual, critical thinker, and open-minded communicator. Nurtured by teachers who are native speakers certified in their respective countries, we expect our students to become global citizens and to develop a deeper understanding of and true appreciation of other cultures.

Why learn French?

French is one of the main languages of international communication and diplomacy and the fifth most spoken language in the world. After English, French is the most taught and learned language in the world.

As an important and recognized international language, French gives students a whole new world to explore. A rich and deep culture and history that has spread to many communities around the world.

Our family does not speak French; can we still apply to the school?

We are very proud to welcome non-French speaking students to our school. Even without a background in the French language, your child can integrate the French curriculum and will get support to help him improve quickly and follow the French programme.

How do I help with homework if I don’t understand French?

Homework begins in first grade. The homework given is to be a reflection of what the child has already learned in the classroom. The homework typically should be able to be completed by the child, with little help from a parent. We encourage parents to be in contact with the teacher right away if the child is having a difficult time completing the assignments.

Some of our parents register their child for our after school childcare, where there is always a French teacher available to help students with their homework.

When are children able to speak French, if they come in without speaking the language?

Children learn at their own rate and this includes the acquisition of a second language. Our students are learning through songs, stories, games, and play. They will look for clues around them to understand what is being spoken, which allows for cognitive development. Each student progresses at his/her own rhythm and the programme allows for the individual development of the child.

Some children will try to speak right away, and make mistakes. Others take longer to speak, but once ready, speak with fewer mistakes. Parents can expect this to take from several months up to a year or two.

Can the students go back to France and study in France without taking tests?

Yes, our primary school is approved by the AEFE and the students follow exactly the French programme, as if they were studying in France. From middle school, students follow courses with CNED materials in addition to the teachers, a certified platform that exactly follows the French National Education programmes.

Is financial aid available?

Yes. About 30 percent of our families receive financial aid. If you are French, you can apply for a scholarship at the French Embassy. Click here to learn more.
